James "Coach Smitty" Smith dedicated his life to public service by volunteering as a youth football coach for over 30 years throughout Miami-Dade County.  James ultimately found his home at the North Miami Jaguars, where he coached faithfully for the past 15 years.  He was affectionally known as “Coach Smitty” on the football field, where he worked tirelessly with the youth in our program.  Coach Smitty devoted countless hours every week to teaching the youth how to play the game safely and correctly. As a result of his outstanding dedication to our program over the past 15 years, he left life-changing imprints on all those he came into contact with.
